The second edition of the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Memorial Summit on Innovation and Governance was held on 20th January 2018 in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi where several civil service officers, diplomats and experts in governance from academia assembled. The Summit saw the participation of 500 delegates and an audience of 25, 000 people were tuned in online on our social media channels.
Shri Ajay Tamta (Minister of State for Textiles, Government of India) and Shri Desh Deepak Verma (Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha) felicitated the awardees. Some of the prominent awardees of this edition were Shri Lokesh Nara Garu (Cabinet Minister for IT Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Government of Andhra Pradesh), Shri Dnyaneshwar Mulay (Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India) and Shri Pankaj Kumar (Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat).
On 15th of October 2016, which marked the 85th birth anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the first and pioneering edition of the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Memorial Summit on Innovation and Governance was organized in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi where several civil service officers, NGOs, members of the media and academia participated, all dedicated to the task of governance and its dimensions.
Some of the prominent awardees were Shri K. Srinivas, IAS ( Joint Managing Director, Narmada Valley Project), Shri Ashwani Lohani (Director, Air India), Shri Kumar Keshav (Managing Director, Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation), Akshay Patra Foundation, Shri Mahesh Gupta (Founder & Chairman, Kent RO Systems), Shri Anurag Batra (Chairman & Editor-in-Chief, Exchange4media group) and Shri Jayant Krishna (Chief Executive Officer, National Skill Development Corporation).
The Centre organized the third edition of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Memorial Summit on Innovation and Governance on 28th February 2019 at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The Chief Guest of the Summit was Shri M Venkaiah Naidu, Hon’ble Vice President of India.
The Summit also featured a presentation of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award for Innovation in Governance to select individuals and institutions for their exemplary work in improving governance and delivering value to the citizens. Some of the awardees were Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Former Chief Minister), Lt. Gen. Amarjeet Singh Bedi, UYSM, YSM, VSM, (DGDIA & DCIDS – Intelligence, Ministry of Defence, Government of India), Shri Govind Gaude (Minister for Art & Culture, Tribal Welfare, Civil Supplies, Government of Goa), Dr. Vineeta Shanker (Executive Director, Sasakawa India Leprosy Foundation (S-ILF)), Shri Rohit Sardana (Editor and Senior Anchor, Aaj Tak).
The Summit saw the participation of over 300 selected youth from all corners of the nation.
